Why Do People Dream?

Interpretations and Analysis in Asking Why Do People Dream

Dream Interpretations
People asking the question, “Why do people dream?” will undoubtedly be interested in the subject of dream interpretation. ‘Dream Interpretations’ is the term given to the art of deciphering dreams in order to understand them and benefit from them. For this, meanings are assigned to dreams in terms of future events, or chance events.

Dreams are the brain’s way of sorting all of the information taken in during your waking hours. While we may be faintly aware of things going on in the background, the brain only focuses on the ‘most significant’ things - storing away the others to be dealt with at a later time - and that occurs in our dreams. It's this subconscious process that makes analyzing why people dream complicated.

Interpretations of dreams can either be on the basis of an individual’s personal understanding of the phenomenon, or on a more reliable and commonly accepted scientific method. The superiority of the scientific method is evident when we compare its interpreted results with the usual interpretations based on personal opinions

Subjective interpretations only analyze the dream; they don’t exactly translate its meaning, as the scientific method does. The scientific method of dream interpretation is an accurate translation of the dream messages. The interpreter has to translate symbols in words.

Most psychologists attribute a meaning to dreams, even though each one follows his/her own method. However, one psychologist who discovered a good method of dream interpretation was Carl Jung, who researched into the unknown region of the human psyche.

Jung had to work really hard to discover the exact meaning of the dream symbols as he asked the question, “Why do people dream and what does it mean?”. Today, you can easily learn how to exactly interpret your dreams and discover the wise doctor that exists inside your psyche, and sends you dreams with precious messages everyday, with some simplifications of Jung’s method of dream interpretations.

Dream interpretation, according to the method discovered by Carl Jung, is a very serious matter. Through our dreams, we really learn what the unconscious is telling us, and the messages we receive are very helpful!
Of course, this kind of interpretation is completely different from the common ones employed. Sometimes, it is not easy to understand a dream’s meaning, but with this method, we usually feel that we can understand it because it is a real translation of the symbolic language used by the unconscious, and we realize how it is intrinsically connected to our life.

To interpret your dreams, it is always a good idea to document or record them as soon as you wake up. Have paper and pen next to your bed. This practice is good for systematical steps in dream interpretation.

After writing down what you saw, underline any important points. Thereafter, obtain a Reliable Dreamer’s Dictionary, readily available in bookstores or on the net. Then, determine the dream’s main theme or symbols. All dreams have one or the other underlying theme to which you, the dreamer, can relate. Finally, go on towards your dream interpretations, and allow the dream to guide you in a beneficial manner.

Once you learn all about dream interpretations, you can understand their meaning immediately - you can develop your personality and become more intelligent, as you will allow all the parts of your personality ‘come to life’ in your psyche! You'll no longer be stuck on why do people dream, but move onto how dreams can be incorporated into making each waking moment more meaningful.

We spend roughly a third of our lives sleeping, with dreams being the primary experience during that time. It makes sense that the more we learn from our dreams, the better we can understand ourselves and, ultimately, live more fulfilled, meaningful lives.
