Low Fat Dairy and High Blood Pressure

There are many ways you can lower your blood pressure.   High blood pressure increases the chances you will have other problems with your health.   Finding ways to decrease your blood pressure can help you become healthier and feel better.

What you eat influences your health and your blood pressure.  Consider changing some of the high-fat foods you eat to lower fat version, like low fat dairy.  This can help lower your blood pressure, sometimes by a considerable amount.

The reason switching to lower fat foods helps is because fat builds up in your arteries.  When this occurs, it is harder for blood to move through your arteries.  In turn, this causes your heart to have to work harder in order to pump blood throughout your body.

When that happens, your blood pressure will rise.  That increases the chance of having a heart attack or a stroke.   It can also cause you to be more susceptible to other diseases.

What you eat is very important to your health and blood pressure.  Making the choice to eat low fat dairy is a good way to help yourself be healthier.  Many dairy products tend to be high fat.

Low fat and lower fat dairy products are easy to implement in your diet.  For example, switch from whole milk to 2% milk.  If you really must have whole milk to drink, try switching to lower fat versions when cooking or eating cereal.

When switching to low fat dairy products, remember to check out lower fat versions of salad dressings as well.  Many of these are made with milk, buttermilk, and many use mayonnaise, which is made from eggs.

Other low fat dairy choices you can make are low fat or nonfat yogurt, ice cream, ice milk, and sour cream.

Switching to low fat dairy products can significantly reduce your fat and cholesterol.  This provides a good chance to lower your blood pressure through diet and nutrition.
