Blood pressure is affected by
various conditions of the body throughout the day. It may be
altered by various diseases that are seen in many people. It
can also be affected by outside influences such as food and
drinks.
Alcoholic drinks have a
definite influence on a person’s blood pressure. The
relationship between alcohol and blood pressure is an important
relationship that could determine whether you are a healthy or
unhealthy individual.
Drinking alcohol may also
increase the chance or severity of other medical issues which
may indirectly lead to an increase in blood pressure.
Regular drinkers are
exceptionally prone to having high blood pressure. This is
because the kidneys can become damaged in such a way that more
pressure is exerted on arteries which can increase blood
pressure.
Drinkers should limit the
amount they drink to one or two drinks every day or so. Remember
your tolerance to alcohol is based on your weight and size.
Alcohol contains a lot of
calories, and may cause some people to become overweight. That
beer gut people get after downing a six pack a day is probably
raising your blood pressure to dangerously high levels.
The more fat a person has on
them, the more pressure that fat is going to put on arteries,
which will, in turn, raise the pressure of the blood pressing
against those arteries.
If you have high blood
pressure, talk with your doctor about the strong correlation
between alcohol and high blood pressure. Your doctor can also
tell you about other health risks involved with alcohol use.
There are plenty of health reasons to minimize alcohol
consumption.
Physicians with patients who
have a high blood pressure should provide education and advice
with regards to drinking alcohol in order to better prepare
people for the consequences they could encounter.
