How to Equip Your Tennis Bag

As they say, winning is all about advantage.  Having an advantage over the other player always allows you to go where he can’t.  And being on the advantage means being prepared and open to whatever may happen during the match.  A well-equipped tennis bag always prepares you for any situation that may arise on the game day or even at practice.

First, always invest on a good tennis bag.  Look for a special tennis bag, which looks like a rectangular duffel bag that would allow you to pack your rackets and other equipment without the racket sticking out. Second, know how to equip your tennis bag. Here are some steps to do that:

Step 1.  Your tennis bag should have a pack of at least one extra, well strung tennis racket.  Most players carry their rackets in a bag to protect it from sun, heat, etc., and it’s always a good idea to have a spare racket in case a string breaks.

Step 2.  Your tennis bag should include one new can of tennis balls. You’ll never know when you’ll need them.

Step 3.  Your tennis bag should have a pack of first-aid equipment, such as bandages, dry-ice bag, and aspirin.  You may need this in case you may not feel well or sustain an injury, you can just reach in your bag for one of these and not make a big deal out of it.

Step 4.  Always have extra t-shirts and towels in your tennis bag.  You can’t have enough dry towels during a match, to wipe off sweat on your arms, legs, and hands; so with having a dry shirt to change into if your shirt gets too soaked with sweat.

Step 5.  Include a water bottle, energy drink, sunglasses and sunscreen in your tennis bag.  Always bring extra water and energy drinks because your body needs to be kept hydrated to work competently during a tennis match. Sunglasses is a great way to see the ball clearer on a bright day and it protects your eyes from the harmful UV rays, same as the sunscreen which you need to protect your skin from the sun for long hours of exposure.

Step 6.  Put in extra wristbands and a hat or a headgear.  A hat during a tennis match does a lot of things for you; the band helps keep sweat out of your eyes, the bill shields your eyes from the overhead sun and the cap keeps your head cool. So with your wristband, this is one of the best ways to keep sweat out of your face, and having a fresh one to change to is good.

Step 7.  Consider including a pack of vitamins and some healthy snacks.  Having snacks available for you when you need it is always an advantage. If your start time is delayed or you split sets in a long match, the extra energy you need on the court can be provided from the snacks you bring.
