Are you tired of giving and receiving
all the same old boring gifts for Valentine’s Day?
If you are like many people, you get the same basic
things each year including candy, flowers, maybe
jewelry. But Valentine’s day doesn't have to be
routine.
Here are some suggestions not only
for Valentine’s Day but for any time you need to
purchase a gift.
Go out window shopping with your
partner before Valentine's day. Pay attention to
what they look at and seem to like. What books,
what type of movies, sports, or other things get their
interest? What do they look at in the store but
never get themselves? These things can make the
best gifts of all.
If you can't get any ideas that way,
here are some more unique type of gifts than the usual
Valentine's day fare. Gift baskets can be a great
way to spoil your partner. If you can't find one
that is just right, make one up yourself. It is
easiest to make your own if you pick a theme early, then
watch for items that will work well in the basket.
For those who like to cook:
Try a basket with a variety of
sauces, seasonings, and other unusual tasty items.
You could also put in interestingly shaped pasta along
with a couple of other gourmet items you know the person
will like. Top it off with a special item such as
a new pan or gadget you know they want but haven't
gotten yet. Caution: be careful with this one -
you don't want to give your partner the wrong idea!
It might be a good idea to include something romantic in
the basket if you are giving it to the primary cook in
the house.
For someone who needs pampering:
Fill a basket with bath and body
products. Make sure you know the brand and scent
that your partner prefers, then fill the basket with
items they will love. Items such as bath salts,
lotions, and specialty sponges with a nice luxury robe
will make a gift that is appreciated long after it is
given. Include a massage or pedicure gift
certificate for a special touch.
For really close relationships, get a
"spa day" basket and arrange a day with your partner for
the two of you to make use of it. On the arranged
day, order a delivery lunch in and spend the day
relaxing and enjoying each other!
For the craft lover:
Fill a basket with craft or
scrapbooking items. Look at the kind of projects your
partner creates and get them some new supplies that are
appropriate. Some ideas are good scissors,
patterned paper, paints, ribbon, brushes, and fabric
pieces.
Beverage basket work well for almost
anyone:
Coffee, Tea, or Cocoa:
Line a basket with new kitchen towels
or a t-shirt that has an appropriate theme. Add a
mug or a tea cup, flavored and gourmet coffees or
cocoas, and some decadent candy to go with it.
Wine:
For the wine lover, create a gift
basket with their favorite wines, wine glasses, and some
good quality cheeses and crackers. Perhaps add a bouquet
of flowers to it as well.
The sports basket:
Here's a few examples, but you'll
need to look at what sport your partner likes best and
tailor the basket to their tastes. For someone who
loves to go fishing, put in things such as hooks,
fishing line, and other accessories. For the
golfer, try new golf balls, tees, and gloves. You
might also be able to include a membership to the local
club.
For a tennis or raquetball player,
the proper sort of balls, handle tape, clothing and
sweat bands are on the list of appropriate items.
Whatever you get, make sure to keep receipts so that if
you didn't get it quite right the items can be
exchanged. These baskets can be hard to get
perfect, but your partner will really appreciate the
trouble you have gone to in putting it together.
You are sending the message that you really know them
and want them to be happy!
You can find the perfect gift for the
loved one in your life. All you need to do is
consider what they like and enjoy, and then find a way
to make it personal for them. Gifts that show you
know your partner well will be gifts that they will
remember!
